Florida "Outstanding Retail Leaders"!

Plant City - The Florida Retail Federation (FRF) has named Devony Scott and Cathy Davenport, owners of Sister's & Company in Plant City, as the 2010 Florida Outstanding Retail Leaders.

"Retailers play dynamic roles in their communities through economic as well as social aspects," says Rick McAllister, FRF's president and CEO. "On occasion, we are made aware of retailers who are especially committed to their community and stand out as outstanding retail leaders. We are pleased to recognize Ms. Scott and Ms. Davenport this year as two such retailers."

Ms. Scott and Ms. Davenport were honored on Friday, September 17, during a luncheon at their business in Plant City. They were presented a plque notating their service and commitment to their community, employees, customers, and the retail industry of Florida. Senator Ronda Storms (R-Brandon), who helped make the statewide trade association aware of Ms. Scott and Ms. Davenport's contributions assisted with the presentation.

The mother-daughter team of Ms. Davenport and Ms. Scott has created an exceptional family-owned business through embodying the ideals of retailing by demonstrating sound business practives with commitments to their community, customers, and employees. Founded in 1996 with a mission to provide customers with an experience that makes shopping and gift giving easy and enjoyable, the ladies specialty clothing, accessory and gift boutique has become a local favorite and shopping staple in the heart of downtown Plant City. A second location was opened in historic Dade City.

Recognized as a "Brighton Heart Store," the retailers are committed to outstanding customer service. Beyond free gift wrap, layaway services, and weekly email updates, Ms. Davenport's and Ms. Scott's customers can participate in promotions, giveaways, and monthly luncheons, among other various special events. Based on building friendships, not just customers, the women even organized a Sister's & Company Cruise 2010, during which guests were treated with a gift at dinner and on their pillow each night. The creative event was so successful that plans for the 2011 cruise are already under way.

Sister's numerous fashion shows provide fun and benefits for the entire community, for example, the "Feed Our Friends" fashion show organized by Ms. Scott raised money and awareness for the United Food Bank of Plant City. Sister's also supports charitable causes that have included The Child Abuse Council, the South Florida Baptist Hospital Foundation, and community endeavors such as the Florida Strawberry Festival Queens Scholarship Pageant. Inspiring leaders, Scott is also active in the American Business Women's Association and serves on the board for the United Food Bank of Plant City.
